This Sculpture was a product of reflecting on the dates that have the right to penetrate the earth and grow a new, and what dates stay rotten on the surface. After watching videos of US troops burning palm groves in Iraq (2003), i created this artwork. The title is from a poem in مذكرات بحار book, Memoirs of a pearldiver, by Mohammed Al-Fayez.

وُلد هذا العمل النحتي من تأملٍ في المصائر المتباينة للتمر: أيُّ الثمار يُسمح لها بأن تشقّ طريقها إلى باطن الأرض لتنبثق حياةً جديدة، وأيُّها يُترك ليتعفّن على السطح. جاءت فكرة العمل بعد مشاهدة مشاهد لجنود أمريكيين وهم يحرقون بساتين النخيل في العراق عام 2003. أما عنوان العمل فمستوحى من قصيدة وردت في كتاب «مذكرات بحّار: مذكّرات غواص لؤلؤ»للشاعر محمد الفايز.
