Oil-Spill Mythology Death Post-War
This artwork uses pre-colonial Khaleeji mythology to draw relations between the historical pearl-diving economy in Kuwait to the current oil-production economy. This artwork aims to address oral “fictional” narrative histories and their co-existence with the histories of the 1991 Saddam invasion oil spill into the Arabian Gulf sea.
يستخدم هذا العمل الفني أساطير خليجية ما قبل الحقبة الاستعمارية لإبراز الروابط بين اقتصاد الغوص على اللؤلؤ التاريخي في الكويت واقتصاد إنتاج النفط المعاصر. ويهدف هذا العمل إلى تناول السرديات التاريخية الشفوية «الخيالية» وتعايشها مع تاريخ تسرّب النفط الناتج عن غزو صدام للكويت عام 1991 إلى مياه الخليج الكويتي–العربي.
